Questions first-time buyers ask me

How much do I need to have saved before I start looking?

Less than many people assume. Your down payment depends on the loan you choose, and you'll also want to plan for closing costs and a little set aside for moving in. A lender can give you real numbers for your situation, and I'm glad to connect you with ones who work well with first-time buyers before we tour a single home.

Do I need to be preapproved before we look at homes?

It helps. A preapproval tells us what you can comfortably spend and shows sellers you're ready, which matters when a home in Mueller, Hyde Park or Cherrywood draws more than one offer. We can start the conversation before you have one, though.

How do I choose between Mueller, Hyde Park and Cherrywood?

Spend time in each one at different hours and tell me what you noticed. Each has its own feel and its own kind of homes, and I know them well enough to point you toward the one that fits how you want to live, rather than the one with the most listings.

What happens after my offer is accepted?

You'll have a set period for inspections and for your lender to finish the loan. I'll coordinate the inspection, help you decide what to ask the seller to repair or credit, and keep the timeline on track until you have the keys.
